Here is something I don’t get to see too often in LA…or ever at all. SEASONAL CHANGE.

It is things like this that makes America fat. But it is also what makes America great! Happy Thanksgiving!

A quiet, random street in Shibuya. Conversely, a quiet, random street in LA would probably have stray cats, dumpsters and the stench of urine instead of shops like Freaks, Ships and United Arrows. Close enough, right?
[Shibuya - Tokyo, Japan]
So we decided to pass up the more traditional eateries in Kyoto and follow the ones that Wallpaper* recommended. These tended to be more focused on design (with a more Western menu), which I’m not mad at. We stopped at efish, a cafe designed by Shin Nishibori.

I’m not the biggest fan of sitting in the ‘smoking’ section, but fortunately this afforded us a dope open-window view of the river that ran alongside. And by open-window, I mean really open. Like lean-forward-and-you’ll-fall-out-of-the-window-open.

[Shot of the efish’s smoking area. Tempted to crawl up the side and scare the crap out of patrons.]

And finally:

When I think of the word efish, I think of electronic fish. That’s all.
Sheesh, almost 2 months since my last post? I would love to say that it was because I was busy with fast cars, faster women and a winning-steak in Las Vegas…but that would be an absolute lie. I’m just lazy and Netflix is to thank for it.
Anyway, I got back from a trip to Japan a couple of days ago. What this means is that the next ten-thousand posts are going to be about Japan. Deal with it.
BEGIN!

The alley leading up to Harlem Place Cafe, which replaced Lost Souls Cafe. I would have totally kept the name “Lost Souls”…right? Think of all that Halloween-time business you could have potentially gained.

Originally, this post was named “Hello, Goodbye”. But then I slapped the lameness out of me.
